St. Swithun's Singers Summer Concert

Some popular songs from shows such as Chess, Kiss Me Kate, Show Boat, Young Copperfield....plus some bright summery readings, instrumental items and a charming and entertaining musical from Kenneth Grahame's wonderful book 'The Wind in the Willows'

St. Swithun's Singers have performed Summer and Christmas concerts at the church for many years and are delighted to be opening the Summer Festival by sharing their music with old friends and new.

Sing-A-Long Stage and Screen

Saturday 6th July 7.30pm

An evening of informal community singing. Sing along to your favourite songs from the movies and musicals. Whether it is Disney or Bernstein, something from Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Time Rice, or Rodgers and Hammerstein, with everyone joining in it is set to be a wonderful evening of music.

Adults £3 at the door. Under 16's free


Songs of Praise - Sunday 7th July 6pm - An evening of favourite hymns and the stories behind why they were written - often deeply moving and always inspirational - combined with a lot of laughter and fellowship along the way. An opportunity to join in and sing, or just to listen. There will also be some solo and choir peices.

We are delighted that Pam Rhodes will be leading the evening. Pam is a television and radio presenter, and is particularly known for presenting the BBC'S popular Songs of Praise. Pam is also an inspiring author and she will be talking about some of her books which will be available to buy, including the most recently released 'Arthur's Garden.'  FREE entry - retiring offering


Local Singers, Songwriters and Choirs

With our very own Sandy Community Choir (SCC) supported by some guest acts including local singer songwriter Grace Jukes. Each will be bringing a mixture of modern classics and up to date songs.

The first public display in one hundred and ten years of a most beautiful book given and signed by the residents of Sandy to the Rector John Richardson in 1908 in gratitude of his fifty years of faithful ministry. Do you recognise the names of the local families?

"A Midsummer Night's Music"

The Element String Quartet

The Element String Quartet are no strangers to St. Swtihun's having played here many times. This evening they will be performing Mendelssohn's String Quartet in E flat together with famous pieces by Tchaikovsky, Bernstein, Loewe and Lloyd Webber as well as well loved Nocturnes by Chopin, Borodin and Mendelssohn.
